Ben Micallef – OCC Officer

Ben Micallef – OCC Officer

My journey with Hyperion began about three years ago when I applied for a traineeship through my local employment agency. Initially, I faced some challenges since it was my first experience in an aviation company. Once I settled in, I focused primarily on the flight operations department. As my traineeship neared its end, I directly asked Hyperion if they would consider keeping me on. Management approached me and offered me a contract within the flight operations department. This opportunity motivated me to pursue my dream of becoming a pilot, so I began working towards my  PPL.

A few months into my role in the Flight Operations Department, the Head of the Operations Control Center (OCC) approached me about a full-time position as an OCC officer. After some discussions, I eagerly accepted due to the dynamic nature of the work environment. Working in this department has given me insight into the extensive efforts that go on behind the scenes of an airline. Despite the ups and downs, our strong teamwork always helps us overcome challenges, and it is immensely satisfying to see a flight succeed, especially when I’ve contributed to its success.

I am incredibly grateful to be in this position and to have the support of my colleagues and superiors, who continue to encourage me to progress and pursue my dreams in the aviation sector.
